Civic is deliberately designed to avoid advertising and cross-site tracking technology. We use only storage needed to run the service and, where enabled, limited anonymous statistics to understand and improve how Civic works.

Why there is no cookie pop-up
Civic does not ask you to click through a consent banner because we have configured the service not to rely on consent-requiring advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not treat continued use of Civic as consent.
If Civic ever introduces technology that legally requires consent, it must remain off until an appropriate consent choice has been provided. That is a product governance rule, not something we infer from your browsing behaviour.

Essential storage
Civic can use cookies, session storage or local storage where needed to provide a requested feature, keep the service secure, maintain a signed-in session or preserve an in-progress task. These technologies are used to make Civic work, not to advertise to you.
For example, some CivicProof enquiry pages can temporarily keep unfinished answers in session-scoped browser storage so you do not have to re-enter them while moving between related pages. Relevant form state is cleared after a successful direct submission.
Limited anonymous service analytics
Civic may use limited statistical analytics to understand aggregate use of the website and product, such as which pages or features are used, general journey patterns, browser/device categories and service performance. This information must not be used for advertising, cross-site tracking or behavioural profiles.
You can object to these limited analytics at any time. Essential storage is unaffected.
Limited anonymous service analytics
Used only for aggregate service statistics and product improvement. Not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or behavioural profiling.
If you switch this off, Civic stores only that objection in your browser. Essential security, sign-in and task storage cannot be disabled here because parts of Civic may not work without them.
What Civic does not use at launch
- advertising or remarketing pixels;
- cross-site behavioural tracking;
- analytics used to build advertising profiles;
- third-party session replay used for individual behavioural monitoring.

Browser controls
You can also use your browser controls to remove stored information. Blocking essential storage may prevent parts of Civic from working correctly.
